3 Ways To Upgrade Your Backyard

Part of the appeal of owning a home is having a backyard. Your outdoor space is there to be enjoyed, especially during the warmer months of spring and summer. As with many aspects of life, what you get out of your backyard may depend partly on what you put into it.

Backyard upgrades can be expensive, but they do not have to be. Here are a few ideas to help you start thinking about what you could do to make your outdoor area more beautiful and comfortable, even on a budget.

  1. Fire Feature

A fire feature can beautify your yard and attract people’s attention, drawing them outside. Many families enjoy gathering around a fire pit for songs, stories, and s’mores as the evenings cool down. However, if you want a fire feature that adds extra wow factor, you might want to opt for a custom fireball design.

A fireball is more or less what it sounds like: A spherical steel enclosure meant to contain a campfire. Its unique designs makes it a work of art, and a fireball is also an eco-friendly choice of decoration because it is made of repurposed steel mooring buoys.

  1. Porch Swing

Swinging on your back porch, whether alone or with a significant other, can be fun and relaxing. There are many different porch swings, and there are options available to suit your individual situation. For example, there are porch swings for one, also called hanging chaises, that are inexpensive to buy and may be possible to make yourself. Even if you do not have a porch, you need not necessarily give up the pleasure of a swing. Many come with their own freestanding frames so you can put them wherever you like in your yard.

  1. Lighting

When it gets dark outside, outdoor lights can enhance safety by improving visibility. However, outdoor lighting does not have to be strictly utilitarian. You can string lights from the trees, porch rafters, potted plants, balcony bars, or even a patio umbrella. String lights are versatile enough to go just about anywhere as long as there is an outlet available. Solar lights don’t even need that much. They soak up the energy during the day and then give back the light when the sun goes down.

Think about what you and your family and friends like to do outside together. Choosing upgrades with those activities in mind can make your backyard gatherings even more fun and memorable.
